The week of January 11 felt like a big party, as we celebrated giving hearing aids to our 22 newest patients! Despite the pounding rain, hail, and cold, every kid arrived on time – eager to hear better!
Our team welcomed each family with tiny cups of Arabic coffee and huge smiles. Giggles and chatter filled the play area, as the boys played ball and the girls had tea parties. One-by-one they were plucked from the play zone and invited for their personal fitting session.
The audiologist tucked in ear molds and explained how to care for their devices, while our team shared our commitment to holistic care through home visits and ongoing physical, emotional, and social support. Then, everyone sat still and held their breath, while the hearing aids were programmed in total silence. Eyes lit up, making it clear the moment sound came to life! We never get tired of this special moment.
After each fitting, they were treated like movie stars for the themed photo shoot – “I hear my future, and it sounds brilliant!” Radiant smiles and camera flashes filled the room, as they selected costumes of what they want to be when they grow up. They were the picture of success, posing in their new hearing aids and professional outfits. Each family was sent home with loads of love, chocolates, and the most precious gift of all – hearing.
