Thirteen year old Ahmad from Syria was only ten when a landmine exploded beneath his feet while he was out grazing his family’s sheep, something he did every day to help provide for them. In an instant, he lost his right leg below the knee.
The hills he once walked so confidently became harder to face. Simple movements turned into challenges, and the boy who used to run after sheep learned to move more slowly, more carefully. Still, he never stopped.
Last week, Ahmad was scanned by the 3DP4ME team for a custom 3D printed prosthesis. As he stood there, quiet but hopeful, it marked more than just a medical step, it was the beginning of regaining his confidence and independence.
Soon, Ahmad won’t just return to the fields, he’ll step into them stronger than before.
