Last year, nine year old Omar was playing near his home in the Aleppo countryside when he unknowingly stepped on a landmine. In an instant, his life changed forever, and he lost his right leg below the knee.
Since the accident, the journey to school has become too difficult, forcing Omar to put his education on hold. When the 3DP4ME team met him and scanned him for a custom 3D-printed prosthesis, his excitement was unmistakable.
With his new prosthesis, Omar hopes to return to school, rejoin his classmates, and get back to being the active child he was before the accident.
