Maysam Areesh

On the morning of November 10th, 12-year-old Maysam Areesh walked into the room with a bright, radiant smile and eyes full of hope. Born with multiple congenital deformities, a tragic consequence of the chemical remnants from the war in Syria, Maysam has never let her challenges dim her spirit. Despite everything, she attends school and cherishes every moment spent with her friends, showing courage far beyond her years.

At Ibn Al-Nafees Hospital, our team carefully examined her left leg below the knee and began preparing her for a 3D-printed prosthesis that will help her move more freely and confidently.

Maysam loves walking and dreams of one day learning how to swim. Both of her arms are congenitally incomplete, making simple daily tasks, like putting on her hijab, more difficult, yet she faces each challenge with a quiet strength and determination that is truly inspiring.

Each patient receives:

1) Evaluation
2) Custom 3D printed socket and prostheses
3) Specialized physical therapy evaluation and follow up sessions pending patient needs
4) Ongoing maintenance
5) Holistic care with in-home visits checking on patients.
