When Khadijeh Alwaki was only two years old, an airstrike changed her life forever. She was sitting outside her family’s home when the attack struck, causing injuries to several members of her family. Khadijeh lost her right leg below the knee, her brother sustained a knee injury, and her father suffered an eye injury.
Now 13 years old and in seventh grade, Khadijeh recently visited Ibn Al-Nafees Hospital with her father to be fitted with a new 3D-printed prosthesis. Despite everything she has endured, she loves participating in sports at school and looks toward the future with determination. Her greatest hope is that her new prosthesis will give her the independence to walk to school on her own, making everyday life easier and allowing her to enjoy her childhood with greater confidence.
Each patient receives:
