Thirteen-year-old Ahmad Marei was spending the day tending his family’s sheep near his village when he came across an unfamiliar object on the ground. Unaware of the danger it posed, Ahmad began playing with it. Moments later, the landmine exploded, causing devastating injuries and resulting in the loss of his right leg below the knee.
Hearing the blast, Ahmad’s grandfather rushed to his aid and immediately took him to the hospital, where he received urgent medical care. The accident changed Ahmad’s life forever, and since then he has relied on crutches to move around.
Receiving his 3D-printed prosthesis marked a turning point in Ahmad’s journey. The first time he stood up and walked with his new prosthesis was a truly memorable moment. After a year of depending on crutches, he was able to walk again with greater confidence and independence, bringing renewed hope for the future and helping him return to the activities he enjoys.
