Ahmad Mhemed, 19, comes from Al-Qamishli, a city in northeastern Syria located approximately 800–900 km from Damascus, a journey that can take around 12 to 14 hours by road. He made this long trip in search of a 3D-printed prosthesis.
Last December, while working in carpentry, Ahmad suffered a severe accident. An electric shock led to complications that resulted in the amputation of his left leg below the knee.
This will be Ahmad’s first prosthesis, an important step toward reclaiming his independence. As one of six siblings, with four brothers and a sister, he carries a strong sense of responsibility to support his family. With his new prosthesis, Ahmad hopes to return to work, resume his craft, and provide for those who depend on him.
