Meqdad is eleven years old and in 4th grade. He loves playing football and often spends time playing with his friend Ali.
When Meqdad was only a year and a half old, his family had just returned home and were cleaning. They lit a fire, not knowing there was an unexploded ordnance nearby. The explosion changed his life, and he lost his leg.
He grew up hearing the story, but it never stopped him.
When he was fitted with his prosthesis, Meqdad felt something new, hope. Standing up, taking his first steps, and learning to move again made him feel strong and encouraged. It gave him confidence to live his life like other children.
Now, Meqdad plays football, runs with determination, and enjoys being active. He studies hard at school and dreams of the future.
He hopes to become a doctor one day, so he can help other children who need prostheses—so they can feel the same strength and confidence he felt when he first stood and walked again.
Meqdad’s story is not about what he lost, but about everything he continues to achieve.
