Ismael is four years old, a Syrian child from Deir Alzour.
When he was just two, a hidden landmine took his left leg below the knee and injured his other leg with shrapnel.
Since that day, Ismael has not spoken. He holds his father’s hand while his father answers for him, sharing their story of loss and survival.
Recently, Ismael was fitted with a prosthesis by the 3DP4ME team. For the first time in a long while, he looks happy, his eyes brighter, his posture taller, quietly taking his first steps toward a new beginning.
