On September 25th we organized a gathering to discuss a harrowing issue screaming at many of us in the non-profit arena here in the Middle East – Gaza and the need for prosthetic solutions. The war, which has dragged on for an unbelievable year now, has gouged out a disturbing trail of adults and children – thousands of them – left limbless and without basic capacities for movement. Over 30 participants attended the luncheon, listening attentively to each other in the residence of the Chilean Ambassador to Jordan, His Excellency Jorge Tagle. Among those who presented were the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund, Taawon, Humanity & Inclusion, UNICEF, Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders), the Munib & Angela Masri Foundation, the Lady Zeinab Foundation, and 3DP4ME. Other honorable attendees included the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Jordan, Atfaluna, Qatar Foundation, Qatar Red Crescent, and MenaLab. All confirmed the need for more such gatherings to tackle the topic of how we can collaborate to help meet the massive need for prosthetics in the midst of unspeakable devastation.
